Program Description

The University of Kentucky's Chairs' Academy is a homegrown leadership development program.  The Academy's mission is to encourage faculty to consider leadership career paths, and to provide guidance to new and prospective chairs and academic directors in developing the skills that are requisites for effective institutional leadership.  The semester-long Academy features eight 2-2.5 hour workshop sessions, covering the spectrum of issues that confront front-line administrators at UK.  Since the Academy's inception in 2014-2015, 117 individuals have gone through the program.

Program Goals

The desired outcome is to create a cohort of leaders for UK that have the proficiencies to work with their colleagues by effectively employing quality leadership skills and being able to have insight into the overall role of the University, so as to strategically lead our over 100 departments and schools into our next 150 years of service to the Commonwealth and nation.
