Welcome to the Office for Faculty Advancement

Our mission is to provide support and resources for the promotion and tenure programs and process, to offer faculty development opportunities, to foster recognition of faculty achievements in both teaching and scholarly/creative work, to partner with units to recruit, welcome, retain and support faculty, and to promote leadership development of faculty as they advance into academic leadership roles.

Faculty may have questions, concerns, or complaints on a range of issues, and we recognize that the offices best suited to help can be distributed across different areas of the institution. To support faculty, the Office of Faculty Affairs can help direct requests or concerns appropriately given some initial information. You may also reach out directly to:

OFA News and Upcoming Events

HR Work Life and Well-being: June 2026 Bulletin

As we head into the summer months, this is a great opportunity to encourage employees to take advantage of offerings that support balance, resilience, and overall well-being. Highlights this month include the Bluegrass Beats Step Challenge, new Becoming Wildly Resilient content focused on emotional burnout, and several learning opportunities on mindfulness, nutrition, and financial wellness.

May 2026 Work-Life workshops

As you enjoy spring, keep up the good work of prioritizing you on your own to do list. You may even feel like opening windows to invite some fresh air into your home. Are you enjoying the longer days with the sun setting well after 8 p.m.? If you are a gardener, I’m sure you have been busy prepping and planting. Spring is also a good time to clean out closets and donate unwanted items. Decluttering can be rejuvenating and serve as a reminder to evaluate what is and is not working with your work-life goals.

HR Work Life and Well-being: April 2026 Bulletin

Spring is bringing lots of opportunities to support well‑being! Enclosed is the April Work-Life and Well‑being Bulletin, featuring highlights like the Becoming Wildly Resilient podcast series (this month’s focus: eating locally and fresh), the Retrain Your Brain Challenge (April 20–May 17), and a variety of work-life and well‑being workshops on sleep, nutrition, mental health, caregiving, and more.
