Conflict is a natural and sometimes inevitable aspect of professional interactions. Yet, the manner in which these conflicts are managed can significantly influence workplace atmosphere, employee well-being, and organizational success. To equip our faculty and staff with the skills needed to navigate and resolve conflicts constructively, we are pleased to announce the " Managing Conflict & Difficult Faculty and Staff: Practical Conflict Resolution for Leaders” workshop, specifically designed for enhancing conflict management capabilities within our workplace. This program is presented by Academic Impressions, a leading firm focused exclusively on higher education leadership and professional development.
This in-person interactive workshop aims to provide participants with practical tools and strategies to understand the dynamics of conflicts, recognize the underlying causes, and approach disputes with confidence and effectiveness. Through a blend of expert-led discussions, role-playing exercises, and collaborative problem-solving sessions, attendees will learn to:
- Identify and understand the various types of workplace conflicts.
- Develop effective communication skills to prevent misunderstandings.
- Apply conflict resolution strategies that promote collaboration and respect.
- Foster a positive work environment by managing emotions and stress.
- Leverage conflicts as opportunities for personal and team growth.
This workshop is ideal for all faculty and staff members keen on improving their interpersonal skills, leadership capabilities, and those looking to contribute to a harmonious workplace culture. Whether you are directly involved in conflict resolution within your role or wish to gain insights into maintaining positive relationships with colleagues, this workshop will provide valuable perspectives and skills.
Day 1 | Conflict Resolution
On Day 1, we’ll dive deep into conflict resolution: situating it as a core competency within Academic Impressions’ leadership model. Through hands-on practice and case studies, you will develop skills to help you navigate conflict and help others do the same.
Day 2 | Managing Difficult Faculty & Staff
On Day 2, you will be introduced to the “EM & EM” model, which includes four increasingly authoritative steps for when you're working with especially challenging scenarios with uniquely difficult faculty and staff. This workshop will provide multiple opportunities for you to both apply this model to your unique context and practice these difficult conversations with other leaders experiencing similar challenges. You’ll be encouraged to bring your most difficult personnel scenarios to the group for practice and valuable feedback.
